Training and Distance Learning Coordinator

Svetlana (Lana) has been with IHS for 10 years, currently serving as a Training and Distance Learning Coordinator.

After moving to the U.S. from Moscow, Russia, in 2001, Lana’s passion for international work led her to work as a Russian and Ukrainian interpreter with Community Refugee and Immigration Services. Lana then served with Columbus International Program as a study tour interpreter for professionals from Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. This experience inspired her to pursue her MBA, and ultimately led her to a career at IHS.

In her roles as a Distance Learning Coordinator and an Instructional Designer at IHS , Lana coordinated online trainings for Ohio’s child welfare training program, collaborating with trainers from Ohio’s Regional Training Centers. She adapted the latest research in Adult Learning Theory used in the classroom to Ohio’s growing virtual instruction. She received her Instructional Design certification from the Association for Talent Development and is currently exploring new ways of delivering training content for international audiences.

As a valued member of the IHS’ international team, Lana has coordinated and facilitated study tours for international social work professionals. She has also been a delegate for two Russian-American Child Welfare Forums, and has traveled to Russia regularly to assist a partner organization through the strategic planning process and to support their marketing efforts.

In Lana’s free time, she enjoys working out at the gym, taking tennis lessons, and reading books on psychology and self-development. Her other passion is traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
